Like everyone else, we have been watching the news over the last few years, and we seen a lot of stuff happen. To be frank, we've seen a lot of questionable actions being taken by companies against employees for things they did while not on the clock. Maybe this will make us unpopular, but we believe that in recent history, there have been quite a few people who have been fired for things they did, that did not actually affect the company in any way, shape, or form. Yes, we understand that it is important to maintain a companies image, but even more we believe its important for a company to maintain the seperation between work place and employees personal lives. As a company, we fully stand behind the Constitution and each and every one of the first 10 amendments. This means that we believe that staff members have the right to be able to speak their opinions outside of work, without fear that they could lose their job as long as they aren't referencing the company in any way. For these, and many other reasons, we have added to our policies, to help illustrate how we as a company would handle certain issues that have recently been in the media. Everyone is entitled to thier own beliefs and opinions, and they are entitled to be able to talk and discuss those opinions and beliefs. As a company, we refuse to restrict what our staff members can and cannot say or do when they are not in the office or representing us. That is their private life, and with proper seperation of their life versus their work, what they do in their private life does not directly affect us as a company. We know that there will be those who say, "If you continue to employee that person, you are supporting their racist agenda." But we don't feel that way. If one of our staff was racist, we see that as their personal opinion, to be kept in their personal life. As long as it does not affect their work, or their interactions with others at work, then we don't see that as hurting us as a company. By employing that kind of person we are not supporting their racist agenda, but rather we are employing an individual to work in a non-political manner to get a job done, regardless of their personal beliefs or opinions. To sum it up as short as I can possibly make it, its just like the seperation of Church and State. Staff members personal lives, beliefs, and opinions should remain separated from their work life.
