I want to tell you a little about what has been going on for Project Space. But before I do that, I should point out that I have not, and am not making any announcements regarding Project Space becoming an actual game. To this point it is still a proof of concept, though I am planning it out as though it were a real game. Sure, it will probably reach an eventual state where I have to give up and just call it a new game, but it's no where near that point. So i've started writing out a Game Bible for Project Space, which means I'm planning it out like its a full game. I'm actually designing the gameplay, graphics, ui, and everything. If everything I've written down makes it into the POC, then it'll be really close to being enough to call it a game. Aside from starting the Game Bible, there have been some major changes to the framework for Project Space. Back in May, when I wrote the last post, Project Space was using all hard-coded objects to represent all the different things in it. All the planets, suns, stars, ships, everything were hard-coded. As of now, all that has changed. Project Space now uses an SQLite database to store the data definitions of all objects, so nothing is hard-coded anymore. That is a major step in making Project Space a lot more expandable. As a proof of concept, Project Space is well underway. But it is still just a proof of concept, which means there is no guarantee that it will ever be released as a game. Though I will admit, that I do hope to get it to that point someday. Until next time, Game On, Friend!
