If you are reading this post, then you are probably already aware of my struggle to get the attention of Azanor to provide permission for me to use the name Thaumcrafter. Since Azanor has been remiss to respond to my inquiries, I have no choice but to rename the app to ThaumCheater. Unfortunately, it’s not really as simple as just renaming the application. Google informs me that I must also rename the application package, and that is a big deal. If I change the name of the package, then I have to also upload it as a new app. That means that the current 50+ users will be using an old, unsupported version with no real way of knowing it. I do however have a plan of attack. I am currently working on the next version of the app, which has been fully renamed to ThaumCheater. Once I have all the necessary Google Play images redone, I will be publishing that as ThaumCheater. Shortly afterwards, i will be publishing an update to Thaumcrafter that will essentially remove all functionality of the app and replace it with a notification screen. This way, current users will be notified of the change. It’s not a plan that I really like, but after having communicated with Google for a while, I don’t really feel like I have much of a choice. I don’t want to leave any users working with an old app that isn’t being supported anymore.
